Scott Randall Gerber is an American business leader, educator, author, and community advocate. For the majority of his professional career, he worked in emergency medicine as a paramedic and senior executive, holding multiple leadership roles with the former Saginaw Mercy Ambulance Service and Mobile Medical Response, Inc. (MMR).

In September 1994, Saginaw Mercy Ambulance and EMS of Saginaw merged to form Mobile Medical Response, Inc., becoming one of the largest ambulance providers in the State of Michigan. Following the merger, Mr. Gerber was appointed Vice President of Operations for MMR, headquartered in Saginaw, Michigan. In this role, he oversaw emergency medical operations across ten Michigan counties and managed a workforce of more than 500 highly trained professionals.

Mr. Gerber was elected to the Board of Directors of the Michigan Association of Ambulance Services (MAAS), where he served for several years. He also served on multiple Medical Control Boards and 911 Advisory Boards in Saginaw, Tuscola, and Arenac Counties, contributing to the advancement of regional emergency response systems and public safety initiatives.

After departing Mobile Medical Response in March 2010, Mr. Gerber transitioned into leadership roles across several industries, including hospitality, transportation, security, education, and investment management. That same year, he was appointed President of his family’s privately held business group, the Gerber Investment Group, LLC, along with oversight of its charitable foundation—originally established in 1960 to manage the Gerber family’s business, investment, and philanthropic interests.

In 2023, following a comprehensive organizational audit and structural review conducted by an outside consulting firm, it was recommended that the group form a centralized holding company to oversee its growing portfolio of divisions and subsidiaries. As a result, Gerber International Holdings, LLC was formed. Mr. Gerber was appointed by the Board of Directors to serve as President and Chief Executive Officer of the newly established holding company, which now serves as the parent organization for the family’s equity group and charitable foundation.

Personal Life

Scott Randy Gerber married at a young age to Tina Marie James, and together they had two children: a daughter, Danielle Avonlea Gerber, and a son, Adrian Stefan Gerber. The marriage ended after four years. Tragically, his son Adrian passed away at the age of twelve following a three-and-a-half-year battle with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia—an experience that deeply shaped Mr. Gerber’s perspective on life, service, and resilience.

His daughter Danielle is a successful businesswoman in Michigan, working in the financial and legal sectors. She is the mother of Mr. Gerber’s only grandchild, Winston Gerber.

Mr. Gerber later married Shawn M. Major, a registered nurse. Their relationship spanned more than twenty years before ending in divorce. Following the separation, Mr. Gerber relocated to Florida, marking the beginning of a new personal and professional chapter.

He accepted a teaching position in Orlando, Florida, where he lived for two years. Afterward, he moved to the Clearwater area, settling just outside Clearwater Beach. Shortly after relocating, he met Ternell Phillips, a successful luxury real estate professional. The two share interests in photography, videography, music, and creative storytelling.

Together, they have witnessed the growing challenges facing everyday Americans—particularly rising costs of living, housing affordability, and homelessness in Florida—concerns that helped inspire their work on The Tipping Point Tampa Bay podcast.

Outside of his professional pursuits, Mr. Gerber enjoys photography, cooking, gardening, writing, and spending time near the water—an environment that continues to inspire much of his creative work.

Achievements

Throughout his career as a paramedic, executive leader, and educator, Mr. Gerber received numerous life-saving and service awards. He was instrumental in advancing pre-hospital emergency care in several underserved and rural Michigan communities.

His leadership helped secure funding for advanced training and modern medical equipment, significantly improving patient outcomes. He also played a key role in expanding access to life-saving technology by placing AED units in police vehicles, fire first-response units, and rural schools.

In February 2002, Mr. Gerber was honored with a Congressional Tribute for his contributions across the State of Michigan. The tribute was formally read on the floor of the United States Congress in Washington, D.C., and presented by U.S. Congressman James Barcia.
